Erie, Pennsylvania - With five points in three games this past weekend, and 12 points in nine games, second-year Defenseman Christian Kyrou is hitting his stride at the right time for the Erie Otters.

In his pursuit of points, Kyrou has been recognized by the Canadian Hockey League in being named to its "Team of the Week". This is the first time in the 2021-22 season that an Otter has been named to the Team of the Week.

Kyrou has experienced a breakout season in 2021-22, standing second in team-scoring and third among Ontario Hockey League Defensemen (49th among all players) with 37 points (13G+24A). Prior to Sunday's game, Kyrou had found points in eight-straight games, including a three-point game against Owen Sound last week. The 18-year-old's play, especially of late, earned him recognition on NHL Central Scouting's Midterm Rankings, coming in as the 179th overall North American Prospect among Skaters.

The honor comes for Kyrou and the Otters ahead of the team's hosting of the CHL TV "Game of the Week" against Niagara on Wednesday, February 16. This will be the second-time the team has been 'host' of a Game of the Week, and the third appearance of the season in such a game. Erie is 2-0 in the two previously played games.

The Otters congratulate Kyrou on this league-wide recognition, and on his continued success this season.
