Brampton Steelheads News Release

Belleville, ON - The Steelheads were in Belleville for a road test Wednesday night against a strong Bulls squad. Coming off a victory versus the IceDogs on Sunday, the Trout were looking to stay in the win column.

Spencer Martin and Connor Hicks were the goaltenders that got the call in this contest, and both showed their worth through the 1st period. The frame featured back-and-forth play with both teams seeing multiple power play opportunities. Martin made some big saves, including a flash of the glove and some love from the post. Bryson Cianfrone had a very good tipped shot attempt on the man advantage, but Hicks made a huge save preventing the goal. Later in the period, Damian Bourne tried to shelf a shot on the penalty kill, but unfortunately just missed the target.

The 2nd period belonged to the Bulls as they outshot the Trout 23-4. The Steelheads were lucky to have Martin, who made several huge saves. In one sequence, Martin was required to make three saves in a row. Brandon Devlin had the best opportunity for the Steelheads with a slap shot from the slot. However, goals from Niki Petti and Stephen Harper left the Trout with a two-goal deficit.

The final frame was more of the same for the Bulls. Lucas Venuto showed off his stick work but missed a shot from the slot. Cianfrone had a great opportunity in front of the net on a one-timer, but was stuffed by Hicks. The Bulls would add two more markers from Michael Cramarossa and Jordan Subban, before Stefan LeBlanc would put the Trout on the board. Devlin tallied the lone assist on the goal. The Bulls would end the game with one last goal, making the final score 5-1.

Spencer Martin was the third star of the game, and he deserved it, making 52 saves on 57 shots. The Trout will return home this Friday for an evening affair versus the Niagara IceDogs. They will look to get back to .500, against a team that they've already beaten twice at home. Don't forget to skip the line and buy online, tickets are available on Ticketmaster.
