Steelheads Streak Ends in Sudbury
November 26, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Brampton Steelheads News Release
The Steelheads gave a valiant effort but fell short to the Sudbury Wolves 2-1 ending their point streak at eleven games.
First Period
The Steelheads were looking to extend their franchise-record 11-game point streak as they squared off with the Sudbury Wolves for their third head-to-head matchup in six days.
The Wolves struck first at the 2:47 mark, as Chase Stillman redirected Matthew Mania's shot, sneaking past the Steelheads netminder Roman Basran for a 1-0 lead.
Basran had an outstanding first period despite conceding the opening goal, keeping the Steelheads in the game with great saves - including an excellent save on the Wolves Evan Koynen early in the period.
The league's second-ranked Steelheads penalty kill unit did a great job in the opening frame, ending two Sudbury powerplays without conceding a goal.

Second Period
The Steelheads tied the game with Zakary Lavoie scoring his fifth goal of the season at the 4:50 mark. Aidan Prueter received credit for the assist. With the goal, Lavoie continued his great play as he extended his point streak to seven games (5G, 3A).
The Steelheads continued to run into penalty trouble in the middle frame, at one point in a 5-on-3 disadvantage. The Wolves capitalized on the two-man advantage as Landon McCallum shot top corner past Basran for a 2-1 lead.
Basran continued to show why he's one of the top goaltenders in the OHL with a solid second period. His two incredible highlight-reel saves on Landon McCallum and Evan Konyen kept the Steelheads in contention.
