Steelheads Sign Forward Brar
January 9, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads announced today they have signed Forward Dampy Brar.
The 6' 2", 205-pound British Columbia native played the last three seasons with the Tacoma Sabercats of the West Coast Hockey League, and racked up 207 points in 184 games played.
Head Coach John Olver said, "Dampy played for me in Tacoma and I am very familiar with him, and he is comfortable playing in our system. Dampy's numbers speak for themselves; he brings a lot of talent and experience with him including championship experience."
Brar also played for Tacoma in 1998-99 with Idaho's netminder Blair Allison when they won the Taylor Cup. He is currently third in the league for all-time playoff games played at 48; third in goals scored at 22 (the record is 27); and fourth in points at 50.
Besides the WCHL, Brar has had stints in the IHL, ECHL and CHL since beginning his professional career in 1996.
