Greensboro Generals News Release

GREENSBORO GENERALS

The Generals defeated the Richmond Renegades 5-3 last Saturday on the road. Mark Turner put Greensboro on top with a first period goal for a 1-0 edge. The score went to 2-0 on an Ole Kjenstad breakaway goal midway through the second period. After Richmond closed to within one at 2-1, Turner struck for his second of the night for the eventual game-winning goal. Richmond would close the margin to 3-2 with less than four minutes remaining, but Sam Ftorek iced the victory with a pair of goals in the final two minutes.

CHARLOTTE CHECKERS

The Checkers fell to the Trenton Titans 4-3 at home on Tuesday evening. Charlotte's Allan Egeland got the scoring started in the first period, but the Titans responded to tie the score at 1-1 at the break. Brandon Cullen regained the lead for the Checkers late in the second period, and they held a 2-1 advantage entering the third period. However, Trenton reeled off three straight goals in the first ten minutes of the final frame for a 4-2 lead, and despite a Chad Wilchynski goal with 3:40 left, Charlotte would get no closer.
