Greensboro Generals News Release
GREENSBORO, NC - The Greensboro Generals missed out on opportunity to win the Carolina Cup after falling 8-1 to the Charlotte Checkers at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Greensboro fell behind early, with the only score of the first period goal by Dave Inman. The Checkers (17-16-2) would assume a 3-0 lead on another Inman goal, followed by a score by David Evans. Greensboro would reduce the deficit with a goal of their own by Mark Turner at the 18:40 mark of the second, who redirected an assist from Kevin Grimes and Matt Chandler.
A five goal third period was the decisive factor in the Generals loss as they dropped to 23-10-4 on the season.
Greensboro will return home on Thursday, January 10th to face the Richmond Renegades. All fans that bring four non-perishable goods receive a buy one get one free ticket offer. The donations will go towards Greensboro Urban Ministry, Winston-Salem Crisis Control Ministry and High Point Open Door Ministries and WFMY Channel 2 Food Driver. Fans can listen to the game on WPET 950AM and www.greensborogenerals.com.
