MISSISSAUGA, ON - The Steelheads opened 2019 by completing a trade with the West Division's Flint Firebirds on Tuesday morning. In exchange for the club's 4th round pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, the Steelheads have acquired veteran forward, CJ Clarke from the Firebirds.
Clarke was originally selected 29th overall in the 2015 draft by the Peterborough Petes after amassing 64 points in 77 games as a member of the 2015 OHL Cup Champion Toronto Marlboros.
The Mississauga native has skated in a total of 213 OHL regular season games with his time split between the Petes (80) and the Firebirds (133). After registering a career-high 16 goals and 28 points last season, Clarke has posted 6 goals and 11 points through his first 38 games in 2018-19.
Head Coach and General Manager, James Richmond comments, "We are happy to welcome CJ and his family to the Steelheads organization. CJ is a versatile forward that we believe will improve our team immediately."
Clarke is expected to make his Steelheads debut on Thursday, January 3rd when the Steelheads travel to Peterborough to take on the club that originally selected him in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection.
