Steelheads Caught Chasing Bulls, Lose Home Finale 3:0

Mississauga, ON - The Steelheads will need a victory to secure at least a play-in game in their regular season finale on Ottawa. Mississauga fell to the top team in the conference 3:0 to wrap up the home schedule component of the 2012/13 campaign.

After the first half of the game remained scoreless, Jake Cardwell collected a Daniil Zharkov pass at 10:51 of the second period. Cardwell skated into the slot and snapped a shot past Spencer Martin. Brendan Gaunce beat Martin from below the circle on a Belleville man-advantage situation at 13:17 of the frame to extend the lead.

Zharkov recorded his second point of the night at 14:02 of the third period, scoring his 25th goal of the season.

Mississauga faces the Ottawa 67's on the road tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. in the Steelheads final game of the OHL regular season.
