Quad City Steamwheelers News Release
The last time these two teams met, the Quad City Steamwheelers defeated the Bismarck Bucks 36-17 on their home turf. This time, the Bucks travel to the TaxSlayer Center to face a Steamwheeler team coming off, arguably, their most impressive win of the 2022 season.
On the road vs. Green Bay, Quad City fell behind 13-0 early but clawed their way back and closed out the game with a dominant 48-30 win. After the game, Head Coach Cory Ross told SteamwheelersFootball.com "I was proud of the fight we showed! Last week we fell down early and couldn't quite catch up. This week, same thing happened but our guys showed that they learned from it and answered the bell today. It felt great to watch them grind that win out."
It was the definition to a team-win, with dominance coming on both sides of the football. Quarterback E.J. Hilliard put on another show-dropping 4 total touchdowns (3 passing, 1 rushing). Mike Carrigan hauled in 2 of those touchdowns, first with an acrobatic catch in the end zone before being sent over the wall and the second after he burned Green Bay defenders to bring a deep pass all the way home.
On the first play of the second half, Keyvan Rudd answered Carrigan's deep ball touchdown with an explosive touchdown of his own. Linebacker Nate Sheets notched both an interception and a defensive-touchdown.
In perhaps the most emotional moment of the game, former Green Bay quarterback and current Steamwheeler Aaron Aiken, with a push from former Green Bay running back and current Steamwheeler Kerrion Moore, plowed into the end zone for a 4th quarter touchdown run.
In the time since the Steamwheelers defeated the Bucks on April 23rd, Bismarck has lost vs. San Diego (38-28), vs. Green Bay (55-14) and @ the Barnstormers (41-36). Against Iowa last week, quarterback Jayru Campbell threw 2 touchdowns to 1 interception but was sacked 3 times.
What will happen when these two teams clash for the second time this season, this time in Quad City? Tune in Friday May 20th at 7:05 PM CT to find out.
