Brampton Steelheads News Release
MISSISSAUGA, ON - Facing off against the Ottawa 67s in their third game in four days, the Steelheads were looking to extend their win streak to four games after two big victories over the North Bay Battalion and Peterborough Petes earlier this weekend. The Steelheads found themselves in penalty trouble throughout the afternoon, and ultimately fell by a score of 3-1 against the Ottawa 67s.
The game started with seven minutes of uninterrupted action before the first whistle; highlighted by a couple of odd-man rushes for both teams, but neither could solve the opposing netminder. With just over 10 minutes left in the period, Tye Felhaber found the back of the net on Ottawa's second shot of the game to open the scoring. The Steelheads had a few partial breakaways, but 67s goalie Cedrick Andree kept the door shut. Ryan McLeod got the Steelheads on the board late in the frame; capitalizing on a 5-on-3 to tie things up 1-1 heading into the first intermission.
The Steelheads looked like they were on a mission to start the second period. Leading the 67s in shots, the Steelheads had most of the pressure. After a couple of missed opportunities the momentum seemed to have swung in the favour of the 67s before Marco Rossi scored the go-ahead goal to put Ottawa up 2-1. To finish the period, the 67s had control in the Steelheads zone for the better part of 5 minutes, but the Steelheads, with the help of Jacob Ingham, were able to keep them from scoring a third. After a few big hits and a couple of scrums, the second period was over - 2-1 67s.
In a period which saw seven penalties, it seemed no team was able to capitalize with the man-advantage. Both teams had their chances to start the 3rd period but Ingham and Andree kept their teams in the game. Midway through the final stanza, Tye Felhaber notched his second of the game to give the 67s a bit of insurance and a 3-1 lead. Despite numerous chances, the Steelheads were stymied by the Ottawa netminder and lost in regulation for just the third time this season.
The Steelheads look to get back on track on Friday when they're back at home to face off against the Owen Sound Attack. Tickets for Friday's game can be purchased at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre Box Office or online at Ticketmaster.
