Staten Island FerryHawks Drop a Pair to York

YORK, Pa. - The Staten Island FerryHawks rolled into the Keystone State on Tuesday looking to continue their winning ways after a 7-2 home win on Sunday against the Gastonia Honey Hunters. Instead, the local pro Atlantic League baseball team ran into back-to-back masterful performances by the York Revolution pitching staff at WellSpan Park en route to a double-header loss, 11-1 and 7-0.

The FerryHawks, last place in the North division standings, dropped to 16-35. North division leader York improved to 30-22.

In the opener, York jumped all over FerryHawks starter Jesse Remington in the home first, scoring five runs on four hits, highlighted by Trent Giambrone's 10th home run of the year. Remington was undone by seven walks in his five innings.

The FerryHawks got one back in the fifth, when recently signed shortstop Drew Jemison hit a long solo home run to left-center, his first of the season. It was Jemison's season debut.

York would hold the FerryHawks scoreless for the rest of the rest of the game and added another six runs in the bottom of the sixth.

In the nightcap, York jumped out to an early lead, scoring two against Vincenzo Aiello in the bottom of the first.

York starter Carlos Espinal (4-1) did not allow a hit through three innings before exiting after a 33-minute rain delay in the bottom of the third. The delay began shortly after left-fielder Troy Stokes Jr. pelted an opposite field line drive three-run homer to right field through the driving rain, expanding York's lead to 5-0.

FerryHawks centerfielder Brandon Pugh broke up the combined no-hit bid with an infield single to the left side with one out in the sixth, but York reliever Denson Hull struck out two to end the inning without Staten Island scoring.

York added on in the bottom of the sixth as Stokes Jr. continued his hot-hitting ways, lacing an RBI single up the middle, extending York's lead to seven runs on his fourth RBI of the night.

Staten Island native Angelo D'Acunto, who attended Poly Prep, made his FerryHawk season debut behind the plate going 0 for 2.
