
Staten Island Falls to Lowell in Final Game of Series

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-The Staten Island Yankees fell to the Lowell Spinners 7-6 in the final game of their three-game home stand at Richmond County Bank Ballpark on Friday night.
The Spinners opened the scoring in the first inning with a Joe Davis sacrifice fly RBI, but the Yankees would answer with three runs in the fourth inning with the big hit coming on a two-run RBI double by Pat DeMarco.
The Yankees added another run in the fifth inning on a long home run by Ezequiel Duran to make it 4-1.
In the sixth inning, the Spinners scored five runs capped off by a three-run home run by Wil Dalton and Lowell took a 6-4 lead.
Staten Island answered with two in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to an RBI single by Jerry Seitz and an RBI groundout by Nelson Alvarez.
In the top of the ninth, Gilberto Jimenez singled in a run to give the Spinners the lead and despite the winning run coming to the plate in the bottom of the ninth they held on for the win.
The Yankees now head to Hudson Valley for a three-game series before the New York-Penn League All-Star Game at Richmond County Bank Ballpark on Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. The Yankees have three All-Stars representing in the game. Staten Island then begins a three-game series with Aberdeen the next day.
