
Staten Island Falls to Aberdeen in Final Game of Home Stand 6-2

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-The Staten Island Pizza Rats fell 6-2 in the final game of the series against the Aberdeen Ironbirds at Richmond County Bank Ballpark on Monday afternoon.
Aberdeen swept the series behind a bright start to the game that led to a three-run third inning behind RBI hits from Kyle Stowers and Toby Welk which made it 3-0.
The Ironbirds added two runs in the eighth inning on a two-run double by Johnny Rizer and then picked up one more in the ninth on an RBI single by Tristan Graham.
Staten Island scored one run in the sixth inning on an Ezequiel Duran home run, which was seventh of the season, and added another in the eighth on an RBI single by David Metzgar. However, Staten Island could not come back despite putting some runners on base in final two innings.
Staten Island now heads on the road for a three-game set with the Connecticut Tigers before returning home for a four-game, three-day series with the Lowell Spinners starting with a doubleheader on Friday, July 26. First pitch of the two seven inning games is scheduled for 5p.m.
