-SPIKES ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The State College Spikes face off against the Batavia Muckdogs tonight, finishing off a three-game series with a doubleheader at Dwyer Stadium. 12 of the Spikes' last 15 games of the 2009 regular season will be played on the road. State College is also re-entering Pinckney Division play facing a Batavia team against which they are 4-2 this year and 16-20 all-time.

-LAST GAME: The Spikes jumped out to an early lead once again to overwhelm the Muckdogs in a 9-2 win Saturday at Dwyer Stadium. State College took an 8-0 lead after four innings for the second night in a row, and made it stick thanks to the efforts of Ricardo Paulino, who went six shutout innings and allowed only a hit against him. Paulino also struck out three. Evan Chambers led the Spikes' offensive charge, going 3-for-3 with two walks in five plate appearances and driving in a run. Phillipsburg native and Batavia first baseman Matt Adams drove in both runs for the Muckdogs in the game.

-COX & BLACK TAKE TO MOUND :Left-hander Tyler Cox, whose seven victories on the year put him one behind Brooklyn's Mark Cohoon for the league lead, looks to get back to the top wins mark tonight against Batavia in game one. In game two, right-hander Victor Black will start fresh off a scoreless three innings last Sunday.

-MUCKDOGS START SMITH & SIMPSON: Right-hander Justin Smith gets the nod in game one for Batavia, after being slated to start Sunday's game in a late rotation switch. He'll split time with right-hander Christopher Corrigan in game one, while right-hander Jesse Simpson and left-hander Justin Edwards take game two. The two Batavia starters have a combined six appearances and two starts this year for the Muckdogs.

-CROWDING AROUND: The crowd of 5,708 that broke the Medlar Field at Lubrano Park attendance record on Friday was the third 5,400-plus crowd in eight days. 5,504 packed the park last Thursday for a doubleheader against Oneonta, and 5,401 came through the turnstiles for the 2009 NYPL All-Star Game on Tuesday. The Spikes return home this coming Friday.
