-SPIKES START FINAL HOME STRETCH: The State College Spikes play the first of their last three home games this evening as they take on the Auburn Doubledays to begin a two-game set. The Spikes will look to snap a five-game losing streak, all at the hands of the Batavia Muckdogs. State College is 26-22 all-time, and 6-2 this season, against Auburn.
-LAST GAME: Matt Curry's homer was one of the State College Spikes' 13 base hits in a back-and-forth slugfest at Dwyer Statdium, but the Batavia Muckdogs ultimately had the last surge to take a 12-11 win in 11 innings on Tuesday night. State College scored two in the top of the eleventh, while Batavia countered with three of their own to take it.
-FUESSER LOOKS TO SPARK SPIKES: Left-hander Zac Fuesser takes the hill tonight for State College. Fuesser makes his tenth start and 15th overall appearance this year for the Spikes, and made his longest outing of the year last time out against Batavia. The York, SC native allowed three runs on five hits and took the loss against the Muckdogs this past Friday.
-NOLIN STARTS SERIES FOR AUBURN: The Doubledays will go with left-hander Sean Nolin to begin the series. Nolin has made five appearances for Auburn, all in a starting role, and has a 10.61 ERA in three road starts. Last time out, the 2010 sixth-round draft pick threw four shutout innings against Mahoning Valley at Falcon Park this past Friday.
-SANTOS NETS WEEKLY AWARD: Adalberto Santos was named the New York-Penn League's Player of the Week on Monday after going 8-for-18 at the plate with a homer over the last week. Santos is fifth in the NYPL in runs scored (45) and on-base percentage (.407)
-SPIKES WELCOME SINGH TO CLUB: Rinku Singh, one of the two pitchers signed from India by the Pirates in 2008, joined the Spikes on Monday. Singh, a left-hander out of Lucknow, India, went 2-0 with a save and a 2.61 ERA for the GCL Pirates in 2010.
