-SPIKES LOOK TO END ROAD SLIDE: The State College Spikes meet the Batavia Muckdogs tonight to finish a three-game series at Dwyer Stadium before the two teams head to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park for three more meetings. The Spikes will be out to halt an eight-game road skid, as well as a five-game string of defeats overall, tonight against the Muckdogs. Batavia leads the all-time series, 30-22, and has taken 15 of 26 matchups at Dwyer Stadium.

-LAST GAME: The State College Spikes got off to a quick start with two runs in the first inning, but the Batavia Muckdogs responded with an 18-hit outburst and scored in every inning except for the first in a 16-3 win on Thursday night at Dwyer Stadium. Taylor Lewis produced his New York-Penn League-leading fifth triple of the year to plate State College's first run and notch his team leading eighth run batted in. Lewis then scored himself two batters later when Derek Trent singled to left to make it 2-0, Spikes. Justin Bencsko tripled in the Spikes' final run in his only at-bat of the game in the ninth innning.

-KINGHAM SEEKS FIRST PRO WIN: Right-hander Nick Kingham makes his fifth start of the year for the Spikes tonight. Kingham is 0-2 on the season, but has gone at least five innings twice this season. The Las Vegas, NV native was the fourth-round draft pick of the PIrates in 2010, and has a 17:5 strikeout-to-walk ratio on the mound this season. Kingham allowed four runs in four innings last time out against Auburn, but did not receive a decision.

-HERNANDEZ MAKES START FOR MUCKDOGS: In a late switch, left-hander Hector Hernandez gets the ball for the Muckdogs tonight. Hernandez is returning after a layoff of over two weeks. In his last start, the Puerto Rican southpaw allowed a run on three hits and two walks while striking out three Mahoning Valley hitters back on June 22. Hernandez was drafted by the Cardinals in the 10th round of the 2009 MLB Draft.
