-SPIKES FINISH PAIR OF GAMES IN BATAVIA: The State College Spikes make their final trip to Dwyer Stadium this season as they end a two-game series with the Batavia Muckdogs tonight. Batavia took four of six straight matchups against State College in early July, with tonight's game continuing a stretch of four straight meetings between the two teams. The Spikes are 25-32 all-time against the Muckdogs, with an 12-16 mark at Dwyer Stadium.

-LAST GAME: An all-Matt battery shined for the State College Spikes on Monday night as Matt Benedict threw five shutout innings and Matt Skirving had a hand in both runs to help the Spikes to a 2-1 victory over the Batavia Muckdogs at Dwyer Stadium. Benedict allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out two in his fourth win of the year. The right-hander has now yielded just one earned run in twenty innings over his last four starts for an ERA of 0.45 in that span. Benedict also fielded three groundballs himself, including a double-play ball in the third inning. Skirving added an RBI in the fourth inning and a run in the sixth.

-BENEDICT BRINGING ORDER TO MOUND: Right-hander Ryan Hafner gets the ball to start for State College tonight. Hafner has gone at least five innings while allowing two runs or less in four of his last five starts. Last time out, the righty took the loss after allowing six runs (three earned) on six hit and two walks over four innings against Jamestown. Hafner was chosen in the 17th round of the 2010 draft by the Pirates, and still holds a sub-3.00 ERA.

-GARVIGLIO SLATED TO MAKE PRO DEBUT TONIGHT: Right-hander Sam Gaviglio, the fifth-round draft choice of the Cardinals in 2011, is scheduled to make his first professional start tonight against the Spikes. Gaviglio, a second-team All-American pitcher at Oregon State in 2011, was also selected by the Rays in the 40th round of the 2008 draft, but did not sign. The righty was 12-3 with a 2.54 ERA for the Beavers this spring.
