-SPIKES FINISH SERIES AGAINST ABERDEEN: The State College Spikes conclude the first half of a six-game homestand at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park tonight as they play the last game of a three-game series against the Aberdeen IronBirds. State College is 5-11 against Aberdeen all-time, and 3-5 all-time at home against the IronBirds.

-LAST GAME: Nick Kingham allowed only one run over a career-long six innings on the mound for the State College Spikes, but the Aberdeen IronBirds' four-run surge in the tenth inning gave them a 5-1 decision on Wednesday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Kingham saw his ERA plummet to 2.65, which ranks him seventh in the New York-Penn League entering tonight. It was also the seventh straight start in which Kingham has allowed one run or less.

-STEVENSON STARTS FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Trent Stevenson makes the start for the Spikes tonight. The 2009 seventh-round pick of the PIrates, Stevenson went five innings and allowed two runs in a loss to Jamestown last time out on Saturday. The Arizona native makes his fourth appearance and third start with State College in 2011 tonight.

-ALL-STAR HOWARD GOES FOR ABERDEEN: Aberdeen left-hander Trent Howard makes his tenth appearance and eighth start of the year tonight. Howard has earned a berth in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game this year. The Orioles' 7th-round pick this year out of Central Michigan, Howard has taken his last two decisions.

-FREEMAN ALSO NAMED TO NYPL ALL-STAR GAME: Spikes outfielder Wes Freeman was named to the 2011 New York-Penn League All-Star Game today. Freeman joins catcher Samuel Gonzalez and outfielder Carlos Mesa have each been named to the National League squad for Tuesday's contest in Lowell. Mesa will not play due to injury.
