Tigers All-Stars Shine in 6-0 Win

NORWICH, CT - The Connecticut Tigers used seven shutout innings from Brennan Smith and two home runs by Dean Green to cruise past the Jamestown Jammers 6-0 on Thursday night at Dodd Stadium.

Brennan Smith allowed the leadoff man to reach in each of the first three innings, but no damage was done by the Jammers offense. He finished his night with seven shutout innings, only giving up three hits and striking out five to earn his second win of the season.

The Tigers got the scoring started in the third inning with a two-out RBI single from Tyler Collins to score Eugenio Suarez and put Connecticut on top 1-0. Dean Green led off the fourth inning with a solo home run to center field and Suarez added an RBI double to extend the Tigers lead.

Chad Wright and Collins then began the fifth inning with back-to-back doubles, Collins an RBI double. Later in the frame Green smashed a two-run bomb to right field, his second long ball of the game and his sixth of the season to put the Tigers up 6-0.

Nick Avila came out of the bullpen in relief of Smith and finished off the victory for Connecticut.

Collins finished the night 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Green went 2-for-3 as well with the two homers and three runs driven in.

The Tigers will now head back on the road for a short three-game trip to State College, PA to take on the Spikes, before the All-Star break. First pitch for the opener tomorrow night is set for 7:05 PM.
