-SPIKES SEEK SERIES SWEEP VS. SPINNERS: The State College Spikes are on the verge of their first series sweep of the year as they finish a three-game series against the Lowell Spinners today at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. State College is 3-2 against the Stedler Division this year, having also faced Tri-City. The Spinners last visited the Spikes in 2009, and took two of three games. State College is 8-7 against Lowell all-time, and 5-3 at home.

-LAST GAME: Nick Kingham delivered five strong innings on the mound to earn his second career win as Chris Lashmet gave the Spikes a first-inning lead they would not relinquish in a 4-2 victory over the Spinners on Sunday evening at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Lashmet doubled to the base of the wall in right field with one out in the initial frame to score Alex Fuselier and Alex Dickerson and give State College the first lead of the game. Meanwhile, Kingham retired the first eight batters he faced in the game before a third-inning single. The right-hander also allowed only one run over six innings to get the win.

-STEVENSON GETS FIRST 2011 SPIKES START: Right-hander Trent Stevenson makes his second appearance and first start since returning to the Spikes last week when he takes the ball for State College. Stevenson threw four scoreless innings to finish Thursday's game against Tri-City, allowing three hits and a walk. The seventh-round pick of the Pirates in the 2009 MLB Draft, Stevenson made 22 appearances for Single-A West Virginia earlier this season.

-VALETTE GETS SPINNERS' MOUND ASSIGNMENT: Lowell will go with right-hander Maynel Valette on the mound for the final game of the series. Valette has made eight starts in 2011 for the Spinners, but has decisions only in the last two. The Dominican Republic native allowed three runs on three hits and four walks over three innings in a loss to Mahoning Valley last time out. Valette has a 7.98 ERA on the road this year.
