Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Fans who enjoy long games with a paucity of runs experienced quite the treat at AT&T Field on Thursday night. Both teams went 11 innings without scoring a single run. The game, however, was ultimately decided in the 14th inning by Huntsville, who scored two runs to come away with a 3-1 win over the Lookouts. Lookouts starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi, who took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, pitched brilliantly. He pitched seven innings, yielding just two hits and two walks, while striking out five. Eovaldi's counterpart, Wily Peralta, also pitched sublimely. In 6.2 shutout innings, he yielded just three hits and three walks, while striking out seven. Both teams' respective bullpens took over and didn't miss a beat until the 12th inning, when both teams scored a run. Huntsville scored on a Lee Haydel RBI single, while Scott Van Slyke came through in the clutch for the Lookouts with an RBI single, himself. Huntsville finally put an end to the epic game in the 14th inning. Hainley Statia ripped a two-RBI double off of Ethan Martin (0-1) to give Huntsville the 3-1 win. Darren Byrd (5-3) was credited with the win for the Stars by throwing 2.1 innings of relief in shutout fashion. The Chattanooga Lookouts will hit the road to play a four-game series against the Tennessee Smokies on Friday. The Lookouts will return to AT&T Field on Wednesday, July 13th to play a six-game homestand against the Mobile BayBears. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
