
Stars Win Fifth Straight

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (10-2-0-2, 22 points) defeated the Manitoba Moose (8-9-2-0, 18 points) 3-1 Saturday night in front of a near capacity crowd of 6,306 fans at Cedar Park Center. Right wing Sergei Korostin broke a 1-1 tie with 2:06 left in the second period for the eventual game-winning goal. Forward Perttu Lindgren had a multi-point night with a goal and an assist, as Texas won its fifth straight. Center Aaron Gagnon also scored for Stars, who have lost once in regulation in the last 13 games. Texas goalie Brent Krahn made 33 saves for the victory, improving to 6-1-0-0 on the year. Texas will play in Peoria on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
Texas scored the lone goal in the first period, striking for the first tally of the night on the power play at 10:10. Defenseman Andrew Hutchinson set up Aaron Gagnon for a one-timer in the left-wing circle. Gagnon's fourth goal of the season trickled through the defense and over the goal line for the 1-0 Stars lead.
The Moose tied the game 1-1 at 8:49 of the second period when center Marty Murray scored a goal. The Stars answered back with a late-period goal by Sergei Korostin. Forward Perttu Lindgren found Sergei Korostin in front of the Manitoba net, giving a 2-1 lead. Korostin lifted a backhand shot past Manitoba goalie Darren Machesney for his sixth goal of the year with 2:06 remaining in the period.
Lindgren added to the Stars lead at 5:14 of the third period, netting his fifth goal of the year and giving Texas a 3-1 lead. Forwards Scott McCulloch and Colton Sceviour each assisted on the final goal of the night.
The Stars will travel to Peoria to take on the Rivermen on Wednesday, November 11th, and then to Rockford to play the Ice Hogs on Friday, November 13th. Texas will return to Cedar Park Center on Saturday, November 14th to host the Chicago Wolves at 7:00 pm. State Farm will provide the Family 4-Pack, which includes four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks for $44.00. Also, the first 1,000 kids under 12 into the arena will receive a Texas Stars t-shirt.
