Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI- The Milwaukee Admirals came back from a two goal deficit and collected a point Friday night against the Peoria Rivermen in Milwaukee. With only two shots a piece in the overtime session the game was decided in a shootout that Peoria would win 4-2.
Cal O'Reilly was able to give the Ads an early lead as he snapped a shot over the left shoulder of Peoria goaltender Ben Bishop just 1:13 into the game. Peter Olvecky and Mark Santorelli assisted on the quick goal that O'Reilly shot from outside the circle.
The Rivermen tied the game at one with 6:11 left in the first period when Julian Talbot scored on the power play. Talbot ripped a one timer past Ads goalie Mark Dekanich from the blue line, with Danny Richmond and Brett Sonne receiving assists on the tally.
At 15:10 in the second the Rivermen took the lead when Bryce Lampman took a lifted shot that would pass over the right side of Dekanich. Julian Talbot and Aaron Palushaj were given helpers on the goal.
Peoria scored their third unanswered goal with 11:17 left in the second when Cam Paddock backhanded the puck into an open net. Dekanich knocked the puck away from Adam Cracknell but Cam Paddock was right there to back hand the puck into the net. Jonas Junland was given an assist on the goal.
A three on two rush led to Peter Olvecky's third goal of the season that pulled the Ads within one goal at 15:49 in the second. Just after O'Reilly passed the goal line he slid the puck to the front of the net where Olvecky beat Bishop on glove side. Both O'Reilly and Mark Matheson received assists.
Hugh Jessiman was able to tie the game at three when he beat Bishop with 8:21 left in the third period. Chris Mueller's slap shot was saved by Bishop but set up Jessiman. After a rebound, Jessiman was able to score on the second attempt. Nolan Yonkman also received an assist on the play.
Mark Santorelli and Robert Dietrich scored in the shootout for the Ads but it didn't matter as the Rivermen went four for four to clinch the win. Mark Dekanich ended the night with nineteen saves and Bishop had twenty-four in the win.
