Stars Topple Lancers, 3-2

Lincoln, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars rode a two-goal second period to a 3-2 victory against the Omaha Lancers on Friday night at the Ice Box.

William Fallstrom opened the scoring for the Lancers at 10:46 of the opening period before Stars forward Mike Gillespie evened the score two minutes later with his second of the season.

The teams carried a 1-1 tie into the first intermission.

Lincoln took a 2-1 lead at 16:04 of the second when Henry Bowlby shoveled a backhand over the blocker of Omaha goalie Kris Oldham.

Omaha evened the score less than two minutes later when Austin Alger fired from the left wing circle, but again, the Stars would respond.

Grant Jozefek gave the Stars their second lead of the game at 19:01 of the second when he capped a spin-o-rama with a backhand past Oldham to make it 3-2 after 40 minutes.

Lincoln goalie Peyton Jones finished with 23 saves in his seventh consecutive win.
