Six Lumberjacks Register Multi-Point Game in Come from Behind 6-5 Overtime Win

MUSKEGON, MI - Collin Adams netted the game-winning goal in overtime, and was one of six players to record a multi-point game, as the Muskegon Lumberjacks erased a three-goal deficit, and knocked off the Madison Captiols 6-5.

The first half of the first period remained a tight game, with Lumberjacks goaltender Devin Cooley making a number of strong saves to keep the game scoreless. However, after 13 minutes of first period hockey, the Captiols opened the scoring. Sam McCormick pounded home his own rebound to give Madison a 1-0 lead. The Lumberjacks veteran Will Graber responded five minutes later to tie the game at one a piece. Graham Lllibridge and Tyler Irvine registered the assists on Graber's 7th goal of the season.

The Captiols scored three goals in two minutes to start the second period. McCormick, Ryan Lohin, and Marcel Godbout, all registered goals to give Madison a 4-1 advantage. Collin Adams, and the Lumberjacks responded late in the period to cut the deficit to two. Adams line mates Rem Pitlick and Matej Paulovic picked up the assists on the goal.

Dante Palecco cut the Muskegon deficit to one goal 4:49 into the third period. After Irvine won a battle along the blue-line, he played the puck to Palecco, who fired home his eighth goal of the season. Three minutes later, Captiols leading scorer McCormick would respond with his third goal of the game, to give Madison a 5-3 lead.

However, not even one minute later, Pitlick found the back of the net after his shot bounced off of two bodies in front of the net, to cut the deficit back to one. Nate Kallen and Lillibridge would record the helpers on goal. One minute and twenty seconds later, Paulovic would level the game 5-5, after he one-timed a Pitlick pass into the back of the net. The final ten minutes would remain scoreless, as the Lumberjacks and Captiols went into overtime for the second straight match up between the two teams.

Thirty seconds into overtime, Muskegon complete the comeback, after Adams wrapped the puck into the back of the net, to give the Lumberjacks a 6-5 win. Kallen and Pitlick would record the assists on Adams' 19th goal of the season. Muskegon is now (9-5) in the overtime, and has earned the most points of every team in USHL during the extra frame.

Pitlick led all Lumberjacks scorers with four points on the evening, one goal and three assists. The other five Lumberjacks to register a multi-point game were Adams, Irvine, Kallen, Lillibridge, and Paulovic.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks (17-19-5) will return to action to take on the Madison Capitols (17-20-7) for the second game of the weekend. The Lumberjacks will host their annual "Jacks Fight Cancer Night" when puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
