
Lambdin Nets 20th in 3-2 Game

BLOOMINGTON, Illinois - The Bloomington Thunder earned two pointnights from two of their top scorers, but fell 3-2 to the Chicago Steel onFriday night. The game opened a tough three in three for the Thunder who willhead to Green Bay to play the Gamblers on Saturday night. The Thunder(24-15-3-1) fall to fifth place in the Eastern Conference just one point behindthe Youngstown Phantoms. The Chicago Steel (19-18-4-3) grab two points on thewin and remain in sixth in the East.
The Steel openedthe game with a power play opportunity. SamuelBucek took the puck off a pass from AdamParsells (University of Wisconsin, San Jose Sharks) and on the breakawaytucked a puck just into the net. After review from the referee with the goaljudge, who signaled the goal, Bucek would be awarded his second of the year tobreak a scoreless tie.
Despite their 12shots on the board in the first it would take time to crack the Chicago Steelon the scoreboard. An individual effort by SeanHarrison (Union College) would put that problem to bed with less than sevenminutes to play in the first. He handled a pass from Jake Slaker (St. Lawrence University) at center ice and came downthe right wing. The shot off the pads of DanielVladar (Boston Bruins) rebounded to the skates of Harrison. Kicking it tohis stick, the Anchorage, AK native was able to put it into the net for hisfifth of the year.
The BloomingtonThunder had 20 minutes to break the tie in the second and used their time downto the final 40 seconds of the period. LoganLamdbin (Michigan State University) netted his 20th goal of theyear and 30th of his career to take the 2-1 lead into the dressingroom. The Carleton, MI native took a shot to the chest from Brogan Rafferty (Quinnipiac University) andit dropped to his stick. With Vladar down on the ice, the Thunder's leadinggoal scorer backhanded the puck up and under the cross bar.
Jake Slaker (St. Lawrence University) earned the number three star in the gameafter assisting on both Thunder goals. The Thunder captain now has nine pointsin his last seven games.
The Steel wereable to tie the game early in the third period with a goal from Karlis Cukste (San Jose Sharks). Thedefenseman fired the puck through traffic from the right side to score hisfourth of the season.
Austin Long (Colorado College) scored the game-winning goal in thefinal three minutes of the game to break a 2-2 tie with Bloomington. His shotcame from the left circle and just inside the post to score his third of theyear and his first goal with the Steel since being traded from Tri-City.
Vladar added thewin to his record with 30 saves in the game. Hayden Lavigne (University of Michigan) suffered only his eighthloss for the Thunder with 21 saves in the game.
