
Stars Topple Fighting Saints, 5-2

Lincoln, Neb. - The Stars rolled to a 5-2 win against the Dubuque Fighting Saints on Friday night at the Ice Box.
Both squads put a goal on the scoreboard in the first period.
Dubuque opened the scoring at the 3:23 mark when forward Evan Smith found Trey Dodd who fired a shot past Stars goaltender Peyton Jones.
Lincoln would answer at the 10:07 mark when forward Sam Kauppila hit Biagio Lerario with a pass through the neutral zone, who buried the breakaway chance for his first of the season.
The scoring ramped up in the second period with both teams combining for four goals.
The Stars jumped on the board first at the 11:30 mark when forward Will D'Orsi found Ethen Frank open for the one-timer, making it 2-1.
The Fighting Saints answered on the power play less than one minute later when forward Trey Dodd scored his second goal of the night on a pass from Mitchell Smith.
Lincoln would add two more goals before the end of the second period with Ludvig Hoff and Grant Jozefek each finding the back of the net to make it 4-2 at the second intermission.
Stars forward Adam Brady would add another goal in the third as Lincoln cruised to a 5-2 win over the Fighting Saints.
Jones finished the game with 36 saves.
Lincoln is back in action tomorrow night at Dubuque. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm.
