Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa-The Waterloo Black Hawks will look a little different when they take the ice this weekend in red, white, and blue hockey sweaters to commemorate Veteran's Day and benefit the Sullivan-Hartogh-Davis Post 730 Honor Flight program.
The special jerseys are sponsored by American Pattern and CNC Works. The Hawks will wear them during home games at Young Arena on Friday and Saturday against the Bloomington Thunder and Lincoln Stars respectively. The jerseys will be auctioned on Saturday after the conclusion of play, and fans making a winning bid will have the opportunity to have their picture taken at rinkside with the player whose shirt they have purchased.
"We could not be happier to give something back to the men and women who have served our nation and laid the foundation for the way of life we enjoy today," said Black Hawks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Joe Greene. "Even if you don't take home a jersey, I encourage you to stick around for the auction; every bid will help raise at least a few extra dollars."
Sullivan-Hartogh-Davis Post 730 Honor Flight is dedicated to sending local World War II and Korean War veterans to Washington D.C. to visit various historical sites and war memorials. Hundreds of heroes from these conflicts have had the opportunity to visit the nation's capital during the 14 Honor Flights originating from Waterloo since 2011. For more information on the program, visit shdpost730waterloohonorflight.org.
Mostly blue on the front and back, the Waterloo Black Hawks' crest appears prominently on the chest of this patriotic jersey. The red shoulders are highlighted by white stars, while the sleeves feature a swirling red and white striped pattern. White numbers adorn the sleeves and back, while each player's name appears in white on a red panel above the back number.
American Pattern & CNC Works was founded in 1994. In two decades, the company has expanded to serve a variety of industrial customers with leading-edge pattern and casting services. American Pattern has also been a consistent supporter of the Sullivan-Hartogh-Davis Post 730 Honor Flight.
