
Stars Shoot to Overtime Victory

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars (9-11), the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, closed out a close contest with an overtime victory over the Ontario Clippers (9-12) (Los Angeles Clippers),120-117, Friday night at the Maverik Center.
The Stars returned to action for the first time post All-Star break, grabbing their fourth win in their last five games. Utah Jazz two-way player Jason Preston, was the hero of the night, sinking the game winning three-pointer as the shot clock expired. Preston finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Meanwhile, fellow Utah Jazz two-way player Johnny Juzang led all scorers with 24 points, and Micah Potter picked up another double-double, notching 21 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Isaiah Miller came off the bench to contribute 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists for the Stars.
Salt Lake City was led early by Juzang's 13 first quarter points, helping the Stars overcome an early five-point deficit to lead 27-26 at the end of the first quarter. In the second period, the teams traded leads and tied four times respectively. Preston's 11 points, and Potter's 10, pushed Salt Lake City ahead, 54-50, entering the break.
The Stars came out of the locker room firing, shooting .536 from the field while scoring 34 points. However, the Clippers responded with a 43-point quarter, shooting .586, and pushing them to a 93-88 lead. In the fourth quarter, Salt Lake City and Ontario traded leads five more times. With the Stars leading by one with three seconds remaining, the Clippers split a pair of free throws to tie the game at 113, sending it into overtime.
The teams managed to tie the score at 117. After four straight possessions without a basket, a loose ball trickled out to Preston, whose three-point heave beat an expiring shot clock, earning Salt Lake City the win, 120-117.
Ontario forward Jordan Miller posted 22 points and six rebounds in 36 minutes, as he led the Clippers offensive charge. Meanwhile, Los Angeles Clippers assignment player Josh Primo, added 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
The Stars homestand continues on Monday, February 26 when they welcome the Osceola Magic for the first game of a back-to-back at the Maverik Center. Monday night's game will be the Stars first in-game Pet Adoption Night, in partnership with Best Friends Animal Society.
