Herd Suffers Loss In Overtime Against The Remix

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Rip City Remix 109-106 in overtime.

Glenn Robinson III led the Herd with 21 points while Wenyen Gabriel followed with 19 points. Milwaukee Bucks assignment player Chris Livingston posted a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Rip City Remix's top scorer was D'Moi Hodge with 28 points while George Conditt IV added 24.

Rip City slammed home a dunk to get on the board, but the Herd was quick to even the score after tip. Wisconsin hit a hot streak knocking down six consecutive points. The Remix was able to convert one basket before the Herd took control pushing ahead to an 11-point advantage powered by three straight threes. The Herd remained steady with a double-digit lead until Rip City crawled back within nine with one minute remaining. Back-to-back baskets by Elijah Hughes and Stevie Thompson Jr. put the Herd ahead by 13 points at the end of the first quarter.

Stevie Thompson Jr. connected from deep to open the second quarter. Rip City responded with a huge 9-2 run to make it a 38-29 game at the 10-minute mark. Chris Livingston and Ryan Rollins combined for eight points to give the Herd a double-digit edge midway through the quarter. Wisconsin continued to dominate, outscoring the Remix 9-2 and go ahead by 21 points. The teams traded buckets to close out the half in favor of the Herd 63-43. Wenyen Gabriel and James Akinjo guided the Herd with 12 points each in the first half.

The Remix started the third quarter strong by posting 10 unanswered points to make it 63-53 in the Herd's favor. Wisconsin was quick to rebound, hitting a 12-0 run to take back a 20-point lead. Each team converted on two baskets before Rip City turned the tide by outscoring the Herd 9-0. The Remix continued to come back but the Herd held on to lead 82-70 at the end of the third quarter.

Rip City converted on the first play of the fourth quarter, but Glenn Robinson III answered with two dunks to extend the Herd's lead. The Remix did not give up and came back with a 13-2 run to make it a five-point game halfway through the quarter. Malachi Smith broke up the run with a jump shot but the Remix continued to rally and pushed ahead by four points with less than three minutes remaining. Wisconsin fought back with five points to take the one-point lead. Glenn Robinson III turned the momentum hitting a three to give the Herd a five-point advantage. Rip City answered with a basket, but Ryan Rollins secured two free throws to keep the Herd in the lead. The Remix came back with consecutive baskets in the last 14 seconds to tie the game and send it into overtime.

The overtime target score was set to 109. Rip City won the tip and converted on the first possession to go ahead 104-102. Wenyen Gabriel answered on the next possession to even the game once again, but the Remix knocked down a three-pointer instantly. After four missed baskets by the Remix, the Herd capitalized on a jump shot by Chris Livingston. In the end, the Remix knocked down a jump shot to hit the target score and win the game 109-106.

The Herd will hit the road next week to take on the Capital City Go-Go on February 28th with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. CST.
