Stars Rally from 14 Down to Beat Ignite

PARADISE, NEV. - The Salt Lake City Stars used defensive stops and timely three-point shooting to erase a 14-point third quarter deficit to defeat the G League Ignite 94-89 on Monday night at Michelob ULTRA Arena.

Pooh Jeter hit a banking floater in the lane to cap-off an 8-0 run to give the G League Ignite a 63-49 lead with 6:11 remaining in the third quarter. The Stars were able to respond with a 15-0 run to take their first lead of the game at 64-63 with 3:10 left in the period.

The Stars took a 71-68 lead into the fourth quarter where they tightened the defensive clamps forcing 10 of the Ignites 32 total turnovers for 11 of their 42 points off turnovers for the night.

Elijah Hughes sank a 27-foot three-pointer for his team-high 21st point to give the Stars a 92-87 lead with :22.2 left in the final frame. The Ignite cut the lead to one behind a late three-point shot from Dyson Daniels with :03.2 seconds left but the Stars were able to hang on after a pair of clutch free-throws from MaCio Teague.

For the fourth consecutive game, the Stars had at least six players score in double figures as Carsen Edwards scored 15 points to go with four rebounds and four steals. Malik Fitts and Derrick Alston Jr. each added 10 points.

Teague chipped in with 11 points and five steals while Zaire Wade scored 12 points with three assists and two steals.

The Ignite were led by Daniels who scored a game-high 23 points to go along with nine rebounds, six assists and four steals. Jayden Hardy and Michael Foster Jr. each added 17 for the Ignite who had come into Monday night's matchup as winners of three of their last four games.

The two teams will meet again on Wednesday night, Dec. 15 at Michelob ULTRA Arena at 8 p.m. for what will be the Stars last game before the G League Showcase Cup Dec. 19-22.
