GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Grand Rapids Gold (5-5) fell to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (7-4) after a back-and-forth battle that turned in favor of the away team during a strong fourth quarter performance. The Mad Ants managed to dominate the paint, tallying 78 points compared to 60 for the home team. The Gold put up a valiant effort in the fourth, hustling up a 7-0 run to cut their deficit to six points after being down in double digits, but the Gold's 22 turnovers resulted in a crucial 34 points for the Mad Ants.
Matt Ryan led the Gold with a game-high 24 points, going 8-15 from the field, and two rebounds. Lance Stephenson added a solid stat line with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Nik Stauskas contributed a double-double with 20 points, 10 assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Big man Giorgi Bezhanishvili put up another double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists. Other Gold players in double digits were Manny Camper (12 points, seven rebounds, two steals) and Devonte Patterson (10 points, seven rebounds).
Keifer Sykes was a bright spot for the Mad Ants, tallying 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Terry Taylor followed up with a double-double adding 20 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two steals for the team. Other Mad Ants in double digits were Pacers two-way player Duane Washington Jr. (19 points, two rebounds, five assists), Goga Bitadze (19 points, seven rebounds, three blocks), Gabe York (15 points, seven assists), Justin Anderson (12 points, five rebounds) and Pacers two-way player DeJon Jarreau (11 points, four rebounds, four assists, three steals).
