
Fourth Quarter Burst Not Enough for Vipers in Loss to Legends

EDINBURG, Texas - After a 129-122 loss, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (8-3) drop third game in a row, this time to Texas Legends (7-4) at home.
The Legends took an early lead in the first quarter after outscoring the Vipers 29-23. In the second frame, Trevelin Queen came off the bench to score 13 points, shooting 4-for-6 from the field. Olin Carter III also came off the bench for Texas to score 12 to help the visitors head into the half 66-59.
Houston Rockets two-way player Daishen Nix posted 11 points to total 17 in the third but the Vipers still continued to trail. With 5:49 left on the clock, Nix managed to tie it up 78-78 after a two-point layup. RGV was able to outscore the Legends 36-34 in the final frame of the matchup, but it wasn't enough.
All Vipers starters scored in double figures with Nix paving the way with 23 points, six rebounds, eight assists and four steals. The four steals marked his fourth time recording his career-high in steals. Anthony Lamb scored 18 points, seven rebounds while shooting 4-for-9 from beyond the arc. In addition, Tyler Bey (13 pts, 8 reb, 4 bs), Rockets assignee Usman Garuba (13 pts, 8 reb) and Marcus Foster (10 pts, 6 reb) tallied double digits. Bey hit a career-high with four blocks on the night. Queen (22 pts, 4 ast, 4 stl) and Christian Vital (18 pts, 3 stl) from off the bench recorded double figures.
Justin Jackson posted a game-high of 29 points, adding seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Three other Texas starters scored in double digits; Carlik Jones (21 pts), Feron Hunt (20 pts) and Loudon Love (18 pts). Carter III (15 pts) and Brandon Fields (11 pts) also scored in double digits for the visitors. Dallas Mavericks two-way player JaQuori McLaughlin racked up 11 rebounds, six assists while scoring seven points.
