Iowa Chops News Release
Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Stars today announced that Stars Power Play has been chosen as the name for the weekly radio that will broadcast live from Scooter & Babs Sports Bar and Grille on KRNT 1350 AM from 7:00 to 8:00 PM beginning Monday, January 14th. Iowa Stars Marty Sertich and Mark Fistric will join host, Jim Erickson, for the inaugural broadcast.
The name of the show was chosen after a few weeks of allowing fans to post their suggestions on the Official Iowa Stars messageboard and sending suggestions via email. Stars Power Play was suggested by Scott Beeghly who will be joining Jim Erickson and the Stars players as a guest during the first broadcast from Scooter & Babs on January 14th.
Monday's show will focus not only on the Iowa Stars players and coaches but on AHL and NHL action around the leagues. Fans will have the opportunity to come out and meet the players at Scooter & Babs or listen to the show from the comfort of their home via radio or KRNT's website, www.1350krnt.com. The Iowa Stars invite fans in attendance to ask questions of the show's guests while fans at home may call in to the show with questions as well.
Scooter & Babs is located at 918 E. Euclid Avenue in Des Moines.
STARS INFO: Happy Hour - Join Iowa Stars fans in the Principal River's Edge Restaurant from 5:30 to 6:30 before every weekday home game!
DON'T FORGET!! The Iowa Stars will be giving the "jerseys off their backs" to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Special authentic jerseys will be worn for this one-time event - a game versus the Quad City Flames on January 12 at 7:07 PM.
There will be a live auction after the game where the players' jerseys will be auctioned off to the most generous bidder. The winning bidders will get to have their jerseys autographed and their pictures taken with the player after the game. Autographed photos of the players' and other hockey items will also be available in the silent auction. The team and buyers will be helping nearly 500 Central Iowans who are living with neuromuscular disease.
