Syracuse, NY (January 8, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have recalled defensemen Andrei Plekhanov from Elmira and defenseman Jekabs Redlihs has been released.

Plekhanov, 21, has appeared in 22 games with the Crunch this season, tallying 2 goals, 9 assists and 4 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 3 games with Elmira this year, notching 1 assist. A native of Nizhnekamsk, Russia, Plekhanov was drafted by Columbus in the third round, 96th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Redlihs, 25, has appeared in 13 games with the Crunch this season, picking up 1 goal, 2 assists and 10 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 21 games with Elmira this year, tallying 4 assists. A native of Riga, Latvia, Redlihs was drafted by Columbus in the fourth round, 119th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch's next game is Friday, January 11 as they travel to Hamilton to take on the Bulldogs.
