
Stars Lose Heartbreaker to Skyforce

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce 104-99 in the final contest of their six-game homestand tonight.
The Stars were paced by Utah Jazz two-way player Jarrell Brantley, who tallied 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Fellow Jazz two-way player Justin Wright-Foreman added 22 points on 7-of-12 (.583) shooting. Miye Oni, currently on assignment from the Jazz, finished with 13 points, five rebounds and five assists.
The Skyforce were led by Miami HEAT two-way player Gabe Vincent, who scored a game-high 27 points on 7-of-10 (.700) from the field and 5-of-8 (.625) from beyond the arc. Mychal Mulder added 22 points, while Davon Reed (13 points and 11 rebounds) and Marcus Lee (12 points and 11 rebounds) each tallied double-doubles.
Sioux Falls jumped out on a 9-0 run to begin the game and led by as many as 15 points in the second quarter (46-31), but the Stars trimmed the lead by six points at intermission (48-42). The Skyforce extended their lead to a game-high 19 points (77-58) late in the third quarter and took a 17-point lead heading into the final frame (82-65). The Stars outscored the Skyforce 34-22 in the final period and narrowed Sioux Falls' lead to three points with 14.7 seconds left (102-99). Bubu Palo knocked down two clutch free throws down the stretch and the Skyforce pulled away with the victory.
Salt Lake City will head out on the road to take on the Santa Cruz Warriors (Golden State Warriors affiliate) on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. (MT). The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
