Stars Fall to Clippers 124-117

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, fell to the Ontario Clippers 124-117 tonight to begin their two-game contest against Ontario.

Frank Jackson led Salt Lake City with an astounding performance of 27 points paired with six rebounds and eight assists. Tyler Cook added an additional 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Utah Jazz assignment player Ochai Agbaji appeared on the court notching 15 points for the Stars. Hot off the bench was Paris Bass scoring 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

The first quarter had the teams exchanging baskets for two lead changes and five ties. The Stars built a four-point lead at the end of the second, bringing them into a strong second-half start. After a Micah Potter dunk the Stars led by six with 8:08 to play in the third. The two teams tied 83-83 and Ontario took the chance to pull ahead, closing the third quarter leading by two.

Salt Lake City came out of the break and led by as many as eight points in the final frame, before a fight to the finish ensued. The Ontario Clippers ultimately took the lead in the last few minutes of the fourth as they captured the victory 124-117.

Ontario's Moussa Diabate paced all scorers with 28 points going 11-of-17 from the field. Clippers guard Jason Preston contributed a total 21 points paired with a game-leading 16 assists against the Stars. Ontario starter Nate Darling finished the game with 18 points.

The Stars held the advantage in field-goals (49-46), points in the paint (72-44) and blocked shots (5-3), while the Lakers tallied more three-pointers (15-13), earned more fast break points (12-8), and added more assists (30-27).

Salt Lake City will continue its two-game home stand against the Ontario Clippers again on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Vivint Arena at 7 p.m. (MT).
