Lincoln Stars News Release
Lincoln, Neb. - The Green Bay Gamblers toppled the Lincoln Stars, 4-1, on Friday in the Resch Center.
The loss bumped the Stars to 5-6-0 this season.
The Gamblers nearly opened the scoring on a shorthanded two-on-one with about two minutes remaining in the first period, but a poor final pass kept the score even at the first intermission.
Casey Dornbach put the Stars on the board at 1:28 of the second, firing a shot from the left circle and tracking his rebound to push it past Gamblers goalie Maksim Zhukov. Dornbach's goal marked his second in two games. Henry Bowlby had the assist.
The Gamblers responded with two goals before the end of the second. Chris Grando scored his first of the night with a top-shelf snap shot at 6:55, then added another on the power play to give Green Bay a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Jared Spooner added to the Gamblers lead 51 seconds into the third, then Jason Dhooghe made it 4-1 later in the period.
The Stars finished 0/4 on the power play and 3/4 on the penalty kill.
Cayden Primeau finished with 32 saves.
