
Stars Fall in First Game on the Road

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, dropped the first contest of their three-game road trip, falling 147-105 to the Ontario Clippers at Toyota Arena this evening.
The Stars were paced by Frank Jackson for the second game in a row, who scored a game-high 31 points - his fourth 20-plus outing in his last six games - on 11-of-19 (.579) shooting, along with six rebounds, and four assists. Eli Cain and Jeenathan Williams tallied 13 points respectively, while Johnny Juzang and Stacy Davis came off the bench to contribute 12 points, three rebounds, and two assists each.
All five starters scored in double figures for the Clippers, led by Xavier Moon, who finished with a team-high 30 points on 12-of-17 (.705) from the floor and 2-of-4 (.500) from three in 28:33 minutes of play, and tacked on 10 assists. Nate Darling came off the bench to add 23 points, while filled the stat sheet with 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Moses Brown grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and marked a double-double with 12 points.
The game was tightly contested through the first quarter, with all four of the game's lead changes and three ties occurring in the first 22 minutes of play. However, Ontario held a 22-point advantage (70-48) at intermission.
Ontario looked to be pulling away as they gained their largest lead of the game at 44 points (140-96) with 3:14 left in the final frame. In need of possession, the Stars forward Jeenathan Williams grabbed the steal and made a running layup. The home-team pulled managed to pull away with the 147-105 victory.
Salt Lake City will have the chance to reclaim a victory in Ontario, as they rematch the Clippers once more at Toyota Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. (MT). The game will be streamed live on NBAGLeague.com.
