Jay Scrubb Erupts For 35 In Loss Against Delaware

The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, fall to the Delaware Blue Coats at the Chase Fieldhouse.

Justin Smith had 20 points and eight rebounds, Jaden Springer scored 19 points and collected five rebounds. The Delaware Blue Coats beat the Lakeland Magic 123-105 on Tuesday night.

Jay Scrubb had a game-high 35 points and eight rebounds. Caleb Houstan scored 23 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Zavier Simpson had 15 points, 14 assists, and eight rebounds for the shorthanded Lakeland Magic, who lost for the second game in a row.

Delaware started off strong and never looked back as all five starters finished the game scoring in double digits. The Lakeland Magic would not hold the lead at any point throughout the game.

The Magic shot 39% overall and made only 12-51 attempts from 3-point range. Jay Scrubb shot 41% from the field and 50% from deep. The Magic would play well going on runs and cutting the lead to single digits in the second half but ultimately never recovered from the first quarter in which the Blue Coats would outscore the Magic 40-23.

The Lakeland Magic (8-5) will face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, on January 27 in Lakeland at 7:00 PM on Nbagleague.com.
