SALT LAKE CITY - The Birmingham Squadron were firing on all cylinders on Sunday afternoon as they cruised to a 123-110 victory over the Salt Lake City Stars at Legacy Arena in Birmingham.

Both teams started the game hot as the Stars and Squadron shot 60 percent (15-of-25) and 61.5 percent (16-of-26) from the field in the first quarter, respectively.

Carsen Edwards scored 21 of his game-high 37 points in the first half for the Stars while the Squadron used three-point and free-throw shooting to offset a poor shooting performance in the second quarter (5-of-23 for 21.7 percent) to take a 61-54 lead into halftime.

Joe Young was a man on a mission in the third quarter, scoring 16 of his 32 points in the period. Young knocked down four shots from beyond the three-point line and set up teammates with three assists as the Squadron outscored the Stars 41-29 in the third and cruised to their first victory of the season.

MaCio Teague continued his streak of double-digit scoring, adding 16 points along with six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Derrick Alston Jr. chipped in with 15 points, 11 rebounds and five assists while Gerard Tarin Scored 16 points off the bench for the Stars.

Jared Harper scored 22 points along with 10 assists and Ra'shad James added 19 points and six rebounds for the Squadron.

The Stars will head home to host the Memphis Hustle on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Both games are slated for a 7 p.m. tip at Bruin Arena at Salt Lake Community College in Taylorsville.
