Iowa Chops News Release

DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Stars registered a 4-1 win over the visiting Chicago Wolves Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena. The win pushed the Stars record against the Wolves to 4-0.

Forward Vojtech Polak started the night off right with a steal at the Chicago blue-line and then fired a high-wrist shot past Chicago goalie Jani Hurme at 17:35 of the first period. Chicago forward Billy Tibbetts tied the score at one just five minutes into the second period before Loui Eriksson took a nice feed from Yan Stastny and skated in on Hurme, sliding the puck between the pads for this sixth goal of the season.

Defenseman Brian Fahey registered his second of the year with a shot from the left point. Eriksson picked up the assist on the goal en route to being named the Number One Star of the Game. Yared Hagos put the game out of reach when he potted an empty-net goal with three seconds remaining. Hagos' goal was Iowa's fourth shorthanded goal of the season.

Stars goalie Dan Ellis made 37 saves and was named the Number Two Star of Game. Chicago goalie Jani Hurme faced 21 shots in the loss.
