Stankowski Stops Tigers

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen improved to 8-2-1 in their last 11 games with a 3-1 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers Friday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Goaltender Carl Stankowski made 29 saves in a first-star performance to backstop the Hitmen to their fifth straight win at the 'Dome.

Captain Mark Kastelic led the way with a goal and an assist while Egor Zamula and Carson Focht also scored. Focht's marker was into an empty net.

Elijah Brown replied for the Tigers, who after a scoreless first period, trailed 2-1 through 40 minutes.

Both teams finished the game with 30 shots.

Calgary will now get set to make the return trip to Medicine Hat tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 16 for the back half of this home-and-home set. Game time is 7:30 p.m. with a 60 minute pre-game show on Sportsnet 960-The Fan.

It is also the start of four straight games on the road for the Hitmen who will visit Brandon (Feb. 20), Regina (Feb. 22) and Swift Current (Feb. 23) before returning to the 'Dome to host the Broncos in a rematch on Feb. 27. The 11 a.m. start in Calgary is the TELUS BE BRAVE Anti-Bullying game.
