Fargo, ND - The Sioux Falls Stampede got third period goals from Blake Bride and Brian Chambers to rally past the Fargo Force, 5-4 and earn a weekend split at Scheels Arena. The Herd trailed 4-3 entering the third period, but Blake Bride scored 1:43 into the period and Chambers tallied the eventual game winner at 15:37. Chad Veltri stopped 25 of 29 shots to earn his second win of the year in goal as the Stampede improved to 2-1-1 on the season.

After teams exchanged goals in the first period, the second was full of goal scoring as the teams combined to score five times. The Herd took their first lead of the weekend at 8:07 of the period when Jeppe Urup sent a pass from the right circle to the left circle for Artem Ivanyuzhenkov who wristed a shot into the back of the net. The Herd made it a 3-1 game just 42 seconds later when Jared Westcott jammed home the puck into the net.

Minutes later the Herd were flagged for a major penalty when Jami Krannila received a checking from behind call. That put the Force on five-minute advantage and they took advantage...three times. Ryan O'Reilly scored on a backdoor feed at 13:10 to pull the Force within one. 1:50 later, Ben Meyers took the puck from the right circle and cut in front of the goal where he slipped the puck under the pads of Veltri to tie the game, 3-3. Meyers struck again just 36 seconds later when he knocked home his own rebound and the Force took a 4-3 lead into the final 20 minutes of play. Fargo outshot the Stampede 11-5 in the period.

Sioux Falls showed they never give up in the third and tied the game just 1:43 into the period, on the power play. Cade Borchardt wristed a shot that was stopped by Ryan Bishel, but the rebound bounced into the left circle and Bride came flying in and backhanded a shot into the back of the net to make it a 4-4 game. Both teams exchanged penalties as the period went on and the game remained tied heading into the final five minutes. The Stampede would regain the lead for good at 15:37 when Chambers tallied his first career USHL goal. Blake Bride knocked the puck into the slot and in front of the Fargo net where it was picked up by Westcott who sent the puck back in front of the net for Chambers who backhanded a shot while falling down across the goal line for a 5-4 lead.

The Force got a power play with just over a minute later and pulled their goaltender for a 6-on-4 advantage. Veltri made some big saves in the final minute and the Stampede held off the Fargo flurry to earn a 5-4 win and a weekend split against the Force.

Sioux Falls outshot the Force 11-3 in the third period, but were outshot 29-23 on the night. Fargo finished the night 1-for-6.

The Stampede return to action next Saturday, October 13th when they host the Fargo Force in their home opener at the PREMIER Center. A tailgate party will take place from 4:30-6PM inside the Birdcage and the first 1,000 fans 12-and-under receive a free Stampede replica jersey, compliments of Waterbury Heating & Cooling. Fans can also skate with their favorite players after the game. Puck drop is set for 7:05 PM and tickets are on sale now through the PREMIER Center or any Ticketmaster outlet.
