Stampede Head Coach Dean Cooper to Support Cancer Research Tuesday Night

Boise, Idaho (January 26, 2015) - Stampede head coach Dean Cooper will support cancer research Tuesday night by wearing white tennis shoes when the Stampede host the Austin Spurs at CenturyLink Arena. Cooper will also donate 10 dollars to the Jimmy V Foundation for every 3-point basket made in the game.
"I lost both my parents to cancer so I've seen it up close and personal on two different occasions," said Cooper. "It's always been important to me to recognize the fight against cancer."
Austin Spurs head coach Ken McDonald will also support the night by wearing white tennis shoes Tuesday night, a common way for basketball coaches to demonstrate support and raise awareness of the fight against cancer.
The Idaho Stampede Community Foundation will match Cooper's donation to support the cause. "The Idaho Stampede is a believer in the Jimmy V Foundation and the great research they've done over the years," said Stampede Managing Investor Bill Ilett. "We are proud to match Dean's donation that will be given in the name of his parents."
"I just try to do things that would make them proud," added Cooper.
The Jimmy V Foundation was formed in 1993 by ESPN and NCAA basketball coach Jim Valvano. It has awarded more than $130 million to more than 120 facilities nationwide and proudly awards 100 percent of direct cash donations to cancer research and related programs.
