Stampede Drop First Showcase Contest

HIDALGO, Texas, January 11, 2011 - The Idaho Stampede held a five point lead after three quarters, but scored just 11 points in the final quarter in a 79-74 loss to the Erie BayHawks (14-6) at the NBA Development League Showcase on Tuesday night.

Cedric Jackson led the way for Idaho (5-14), scoring 20 points, dishing out seven assists and grabbing six rebounds. He added three steals for the Stampede, who shot just 36.0 percent from the floor for the game, making only 6-of-21 three-pointers (28.6 percent). The Stampede dominated the glass, outrebounding Erie 50-39. Carlos Wheeler totaled 17 points and 14 rebounds, his fifth double-double of the season.

Lance Hurdle made a three-pointer with 3:03 left to give Idaho a two point lead, but the Stampede failed to score the rest of the way.

Erie, which shot just 36.0 percent from the floor, as well, was led by Blake Ahearn (16 points, five rebounds, five assists) and Ivan Johnson (nine points, 13 rebounds).

The Stampede play at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning against the Springfield Armor. They then play the next night at Utah at 7 p.m.
