Stampede Defeat Arsenal 109-98

BOISE, Idaho (February 22, 2008) - The Idaho Stampede were able to stay undefeated against Anaheim on the season, by defeating the Arsenal, 109-98, Friday night in Boise. Stampede Guard Mike Taylor lifted his team to victory, going 66% (10-15) from the field and scoring a season-high 29 points.

In the first quarter Anaheim came out hot, shooting 63% (12-19) from the field and ending the quarter with a 29-22 advantage over Idaho. Guillermo Diaz paced the Arsenal in the second quarter, scoring 11 of his 21 points in the quarter and helping his team go into the break with a 54-48 lead.

The Stampede spread the ball around well in the third quarter, scoring 28 points, to cut the Arsenal lead to one heading into the final quarter.

Idaho proved to be too strong for Anaheim in the final quarter, outscoring the Arsenal 33-21, to go on to take the victory.

Anaheim was led by a great overall performance by Marcus Campbell. Campbell played very solid inside, he scored 22 points and pulled down 19 rebounds, matching his season-high for rebounds in a game. Ivan Johnson had a double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Guard Will Blalock added 11 points, in the loss.

"Both teams fought hard in this game tonight," said Stampede Head Coach Bryan Gates. "I'm proud of the way our guys worked hard and pulled out the win."

The Stampede benefited from having five players score in double figures. Mouhamed Sene, on an NBA assignment from the Seattle SuperSonics, recorded a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Lance Allred scored 17 points, while Cory Violette scored 12 points and had nine rebounds. Ernest Scott came off the bench, adding 10 points for the Stampede. Randy Livingston dished out 13 assists and scored nine points in the victory, one point away from his 16th double-double of the season.

This was the first of a back-to-back series between Anaheim and Idaho. The two teams will battle it out again tomorrow night, in Boise. Tip off is at 7 p.m.
