Three-Goal First Sinks Rage, Drop into Tie for First
February 23, 2008 - NBA G League (G League)
Colorado 14ers News Release
Loveland, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles opened up a 3-0 lead through 20 minutes on their way to a 4-1 victory against the Rocky Mountain Rage at the Budweiser Events Center. The loss dropped the Rage into a tie with the Eagles for first place in the Northwest Division, a position Rocky Mountain has held since the opening night of the season. The division lead will be at stake tomorrow when the Rage host the Eagles in the second half of a home-and-home at Broomfield Event Center at 3:05 p.m.
Riley Nelson, Ryan Tobler, and Ed McGrane all scored for Colorado in the opening frame and their club never looked back.
Rocky Mountain started to mount a comeback mid-way through the second period when Nathan Rosychuk scored on the power play off a rebound at 10:07, but that would be the only time the team solved Eagles netminder Sebastien Laplante all evening.
Trailing 3-1 entering the third, the Rage were effectively bottled up over the final 20 minutes by Colorado as each team generated just six shots on goal during the period. McGrane notched his second of the night into an empty net at 18:31 for the 4-1 final.
Both teams now have identical 31-14-5 records with 67 points, not only tied for the division lead but also for second place in the Northern Conference.
In addition to the Northwest Division ramifications that will play out on the ice, tomorrow afternoon's tilt will also feature Rage defenseman Clay Plume Bobblehead Dolls for the first 1,000 fans at Broomfield Event Center courtesy of FirsTier Bank.
Following the game, season ticket holders will be invited onto the ice to skate with the entire Rocky Mountain team. Season ticket holders are encouraged to bring their own ice skates for Sunday's post-game skate, but there will be a limited number of skates available at the arena for fans to use, as well.
Single-game tickets for the remainder of the 2007-08 regular season are available with prices ranging from $18 - $43 per seat (parking included). Fans can purchase tickets at Broomfield Event Center's box office or through Ticketmaster by logging-on to www.Ticketmaster.com, calling (303) 830-TIXS, or visiting any Ticketmaster retail outlet.
For group ticket information, please call the Rage at (303) 439-RAGE or visit www.rockymountainrage.com.
