Stajcer Returns to Attack
October 10, 2011 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack has announced the overage goaltender Scott Stajcer has been returned to the team from the New York Rangers. Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather made the announcement on Sunday following the Rangers two game stint in Sweden to start the season.
The 20 year old Cambridge, ON. native had an impressive training camp with the blueshirts and spent the first several weeks of the season with the New York Rangers, traveling with the team to Sweden to open the National Hockey League schedule. Stajcer was originally a 5th Round draft pick of the Rangers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and signed a three year entry level deal with the club this past May.
"The Rangers have a log jam of goaltenders in their Minor League system and Scott was the only goaltender eligible to return to Junior.", stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. "Scott is a character kid and will no doubt take this as a positive."
The 6'3, 195lb netminder has been with the organization since the 2007/2008 season and since then has posted a 47-44-6-6 record with 2 shutouts and a 3.57 GAA to go along with a .900 save percentage.
With the addition of Stajcer, this move leaves the Attack with the familiar position of having three goaltenders on their roster.
The Attack is back in action today, Monday October 10th when they play host to the Saginaw Spirit. Game time at the JD McArthur Arena is 2:00pm.
