BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, topped the Texas Legends 134-101 on Thursday night at Legacy Arena at the BJCC. The Squadron's 75 first half points set a new franchise record.

Kelan Martin's 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting paced Birmingham and all five starters (and two players off the bench) scored in double-figures. Javonte Smart scored 20, while James Kelly Sr. notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.

Texas was led in scoring by Grant Riller, who was responsible for 23 points.

The Squadron shot 53.6% from three and 61.6% from the field on the night. Birmingham also scored a season-high 70 points in the paint.

Birmingham returns to the court tomorrow for the second contest of the back-to-back with Texas. Tip-off from Legacy Arena is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be viewed locally on My68 WABM or nationally on NBAGLeague.com. The Squadron celebrate Marvel Superhero Night on Friday as well and will wear custom Black Panther-inspired uniforms.
